El34 Question

I wa told by one of the sales persons that the Mesa Rep said you can run EL34's with the 6L6's as long as the EL's go in the outside sockets is this TRUE

Nope. The EL34s need to go in the middle slots, and you must not play in 10-watt mode if you mix the tubes.

Your salesperson is confusing the Mark V with the Mark IV.

I don't think it matters if its the inside pair or the outside pair BUT you have to stay away from the 10W mode AND you have to keep at the 6L6 bias at the back.

I suppose it doesn't matter, in the sense that it won't break your amp, but the inside slots bias hotter, and so it's best to the put the EL34s there.

Also, it needs to be in 6L6 mode when you mix tubes.
