Hi there

I recently swapped out my tubes on my roadster and opted to go with 4 jj 12ax7 and 2 jj 12au7. Was wondering if anyone is using 12au7's on their roadster and where are you using them? I have mine in v4 and v5. If I'm not mistaken these are for the fx loop and reverb right?? I'm running jj 6l6's in the power section and am pretty happy with what I hear so far, especially in channel 1 and 2. Any feedback/comments are appreciated.

P.S. I kno that 12au7 are lower gain.

never tried the JJs but i have tried a Sylvania and a Philips and thought they sounded best in either the PI (V6) or for the fx loop (V5). In the PI position you should be able to weed out a bunch of the fizz (although most roadsters including mine doesnt have all that much) and should hear a little more airy presence.

BTW... you have now envoked my curiosity to break them out again

Let me know how that goes. I was looking into buying a JJ tube set.

I tried the 12au7 in v6 and noticed that i need to run the power section a little more to get to the desired volume/warmth i want. Also the highs were much more pronounced.A little too much for my liking. So I went back into v4 and v5 and amd running a standard 12ax7 in v6 and im really liking the break out even at low volume. The fx loop sounds really nice dialed at 12 o clock with some analog delay and my maxon ts-9 in front. Oh yeah and the fizziness is rounded out quite a bit with more of a tighter gain. Im running in recto tracking all around in the bold setting....leads r scorching

summary
v1 through v3 12ax7
v4 and v5 12au7
v6 12ax7

all jj tubes and 6l6 in power section.
