I have a 2 channel Dual rectifier and channel 1 green is working fine but channel 2 modern (red) I have to turn up way higher than normal to here it.

Would this point to preamp tubes because it is not both channels?
Or could old power tubes cause volume loss in 1 channel only?

Thanks for any help....

If the Orange channel is still working perfectly, then it can't be tubes - this amp uses all the tubes, all the time in all modes. (Apart from the FX loop tube which is only active when the loop is selected on the back panel, but is *still* active on both channels even when the loop itself is assigned only to one.)

Unfortunately it's probably a faulty LDR (channel switching component), which is quite a common fault on these amps. You can narrow it down as to exactly which one - is it noticeable as just a loss of volume, or a loss of gain as well? Does it change the tone at all? Does it work OK when the Red channel is cloned to Vintage? etc.

Changing them isn't a big deal for a tech (although it can be a nuisance, depending on which one has failed) but it probably a bit beyond DIY level unless you're experienced working on PCB amps.

I was worried about that. How many are there? I did one 2 years ago.

Well thats not good.LOL And I have a gig next week too. Hope it can hold out till then, I'll obviously be bringing a backup amp now...
