i currently own a 99 model 2 channel dual rectifier with a slant mesa quad box and have been offered a swap for a mesa boogie mark iv combo just wanderin what to do ive i love the sound of the mark iv heads but ive never played with the combo

Personally, I wouldn't do it, but maybe that's just me. If it were a head, I would ask to swap for a few days and see which I like better.

But a combo wouldn't fill my needs.

But combos are heavy!

They are close to the weight of the head. Besides you could always convert the combo to a head. Thats probably what I would do.

Thats really a tough one though. I do love me some Recto. In the long run you could always find another 2 channel. As long as its in as good of condition, Iwould probably trade.

I like my back :D. Zakk is a beast, but I don't need anymore unnecessary lifting. I do enough of that in construction, and in health care (lifting people onto gurneys and gurneys into ambulances). It really depends on the amp and speaker(s) used. I always go for the head/cab route. Sometimes the difference of 10 or 20 pounds means a lot.

Just traded my Mark V (yes V not IV) in for a roadster. Great tones in the V just not the cruchy riffs, way better cleans with the V IMHO though. So I would try it before swapping. If you can have/afford both don't swap get them both 8) .

You can probably dial a recto closer to a IV then you could dial a IV to sound like a recto. The IV wont do recto stuff. Especially with EL34s in it. The IV's are alot of fun to play through. And If you dont like it, the IVs seem to sell pretty fast. GAS it up.

Just my experiance with the 2
