Hey There,

I changed my tubes today in my dual rec. NOS preamp and Mesa power. I know the NOS are good as I was using them in my Mark IV. After I powered it back on I had no volume. If I engage channel 3 I hear the guitar coming through the speaker but the level controls on the amp don't make it louder or quieter.

I checked my fx loop and anything in the fx isn't getting signal.

I put the old tubes back in and I have the same problem.

I checked the fuse and it was fine.

What the hell??? :)

So my symtoms are: No volume - but a tiny bit in channel 3 - volume knobs don't change the level and nothing is going to my fx send.

All the tubes light up. The transformer next to the choke is warm to the touch after the amp has been off for a while. Not sure if that is normal?

Thanks a lot for any help!!

Ok, since the mesa was dead I moved a Marshall over to where I had the Mesa. Played it for a while and all was good, then I heard a popping as I was out smoking and I came back in and the Mains fuse is blown.

So, today I put in the our window ACs and 1 is running now. That must be the cause...

So if the Mains fuse blew in my Marshall what blew in my Dual Rec? The Marsall has a Mains fuse and HT fuse but the mesa just has one...

Turns out it was the JFETs in the mute circuit. He said he's seen this before but doesn't know why it happens.

Anyone heard of this?
