Yep, i would think you have too in order to create some work space.

Taking out the 2 screws that hold in the bar is a lot quicker and easier than fighting to get the tubes out and over it.

I have tried to get my hands in there to check out tubes and they don't really fit unless you take off the back panel. Think monkey in a cage trying to take an apple that is outside of the cage.
