I have recently purchased an old DR and noticed that the High Gain/Orange channel had a problem. When you play a note or hit a chord the sound will cut out if not completeley enough to make it sound like absolute dog sh?t, and then it will come back partially while it's sustaining. All other channels and modes works fine. I read the "manual" and it said if you can figure out that it's one mode that'll help diagnose the problem. But doesn't say what tube it is. I have just replaced all the tubes in the amp with all mesa tubes, and the problem is still there. Wondering what anyone on here could recomend.

I recommend asking around about a reliable, trustworthy amp repair person and get her looked at.

You could also pull her out of her head, box her up and send her to Mesa. I did this with my Mark IV head. If you do this obviously you need to call Mesa first and get them to give you a "return" number to put on the box so they know what it is when they get it. They charged just about what a local guy would have charged me so it just cost the extra shipping but it is worth it to have Mesa HQ say she is working 100% to spec. Who knows, when you call them and tell them the problem they may know what it is before even seeing the amp.

Good luck.

Well... Glad I didn't send it to Mesa. I got it back from the shop today and the tech said that all it was was the loose gain pot. He repaired a couple of the pots and It sounds like an Old Mesa should. So word to the wise... Loose pots can = cuting of sound. Sorry about the mis-post. I thought it might be a tube issue. Thanks for the reply.
