Only the configuration arrangement. Functionally they are exactly the same.

The short head has the rocker switches for the EQ and the harmonics/midgain options on the back of the head.

The black tolex also adds a subtle lower mid expression to the mix that tends to add a darker cadence that morphs through the entire mix in waves of sonic bliss.

i find the extra timber in the head shell gives much more bottom end to the amp's general tone.

True, but not nearly as much as having the handle tucked down rather than up...

Have you Ever heard the difference in tone when replacing the metal washers to nylon.. it cut's down the brightness and adds alot of depth..strongly suggest..

If you place the head toward the back of the cab it sits on the low end will knock you out. If moved forward there is less bottom but you get stronger mids and highs and it cuts through with greater clairty.

I am going to try that to night at a gig!

have you heard the difference between a mk III with tolex covering and a timber finish?

It's Amazing..
