V1 Groove Tubes Mullard Re-Issue

V2-6 JJ High Gain

Power Tubes JJ

This is the best combination that I've found in my DC-3.

My DC-2 has all JJ's.

My DC-5 has some seriously beat up Mesa's and needs to be re-tubed.

JJ's all the way around. V1-4 graded high gain ECC83S's, V5 regular, V6 matched and balanced. #48 matched set of JJ 6L6GC's.

It rawks!!!!

Another for the JJ's. Eurotubes basic kit with an AT7 in the reverb driver. Amazing what it did for this amp pulling those stock Mesa tubes for the JJs. Favorite amp hands down (over a Z, Vox and Fender).

What does the AT7 do for the verb? How would you compare it to 12ax7wa's

AT7 lowers the gain - warms the reverb up making it smoother and more usable...takes that 'sproing' out of the tone/sound.

Most amp mfgs don't use AX7s for reverb driver for that reason. Fender verb is more/less the bar and you'll find AT7s or the equivilent in the reverb driver position.

The DCs use the Accutronics reverb tray (same provider Fender uses) - putting the AT7 gets it closer to the Fender vibe.

But, like everything else involving 'tone', it's up to the individual player if it's a good thing or not. :)
