Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, but a long time Mesa user.

My first stack was a 5150 with a Mesa 2x12" vertical cab and then I got a DC-5 (just sold it), but now I have a Single Recto. This thing is awesome, it sounds great, but I don't know what series it is, or even how old it is.

It doesn't have the raw mode or the el34/6l6 switch, so I'm assuming it's a Series 1. The Serial is R0-00226, does this mean it's a fairly old one, or what? Also, interesting little tidbit, I got it for $400. Awesome deal, right?

Yes great deal and thats the 226th one made.

Only way to tell is to remove the chasis and look for the hand written date. Relatively easy to do, just don't go touching the board if you don't know what not to touch.

I would be very interested to hear what that date is if you decide to look. I had an ROV that I think was 1095. Never looked at the date even though I had the chasis out.

I always thought the series 1 (what you have) sound better. Do you get any channel switching delay? Common with the series 1's but never heard if it effected the SR's.

There is a slight fade in when going to the distortion channel, but no delay, as in a moment of no sound before the channel kicks in.

So, wow, I have a fairly early recto.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the SR came with a head case, all for $400.
