No exaggeration one bit here.... I put in the EL34's. Started playing Les Paul neck pickup leads.... my wife in the living room could tell the difference in the tone. She came back and asked what I was doing, what made it sound different. In her words it sounded more like 'the album' sound quality. Amaturish description but bottom line, it has that modded Marshallish influence that a casual listener sits up an says 'hey, I know that sound from Album XXX'. She is not a tone freak like we that have the B chromosone

I was digging back through the tube related threads and I thought (could be wrong) I saw one where you tried the SED 6L6s before you went to the EL34s. If that was the case, what did you perceive as the difference between the stock 6L6's and the SED 6L6's? Was it subtle or worth trying. I already know I will get the SED EL34s, but am wondering if the SED 6L6s are worth spending the extra bucks for.

Generally speaking, I prefer the GEQ for my lead / high gain rhythm tones for maximum tweakability, but love the flexibility of being able to assign the PEQ to each channel as well. I find the PEQ works very well in moderation with Channel 1 and sometimes Channel 2. I love this flexibility! Great feature.
