combo to head conversion

This has been likely covered before..but im having trouble finding info. I would like to convert my MV combo into a head. Will mesa provide the shell? Do I need to get a new reverb tank, or modify the one I have?

Why not just call Mesa ? I can assure you it wont be cheap

yes, they'll sell you a headshell

edit: not sure about reverb anymore

they will quote you 8-12 weeks delivery time. you might get lucky and get it before or you might get unlucky and get it after. mesa builds in production cycles.

Did you ended up calling Mesa? If you did, out of curiosity, how much did they quote you for the headshell?

I got a quote off mesa for £370 over here, frankly a ridiculuos price! An amp builder quoted me around 150 for a custom made tolexed headshell.

So looks like Im going the custom route. If I use the same reverb take that comes in the combo...what is a safe distance between the tank and the bottom of the power tubes?

Just follow the MV head dims mate and you wont go wrong, is about 270mm high (11 inches-ish?)
