That was really good, sounded pretty nice.

Nice recording man, I'd like to hear the Rhytm 2 though ;)

And, I'm planning on buying one locally, no offense :)

how much would i expect for used?

None taken. For a head, I'd say between $750-1500 depending on how old it is. Same with a combo usually being slightly more than a head.

Here is a link to some of my clips...all but Sweet Leaf were done with the IV.

I traded my Solo 50 head and 2X12 cab for the IV Combo...I needed more space in my Apt. However, as soon as I have more space. I will pick up a 4X12 cab as an extension.

I'd say grab it if you can!!

I rack mounted the combo head and run stereo through 2 4x12s the picture is a little old, I only use the 2 1x12s for practice and small gigs.

I also have the MIDI preset editor I wrote for the GMajor on this site. Free download.

All of the tunes on my 'songs' page (pre-2004) were recorded with a 1991 Mark IV. I bought it new in '91, and still have it & use it today (as well as a Mark IIc 60W & a Road King). Most of the tunes recorded for TNG II were done using the old Mark IIc.

For the Mark IV, all leads were done via the Lead channel. Most rhythm was using the 2nd rhythm channel. And, any clean guitar was done using the 1st channel. Tone's set at about 8, Presence at about 2-1/2, mid's about 3-4, bass about 3-4, channel volumes at 8, Lead drive at about 3-4, master volume at about 2. Clean channel's volume not pulled out. Rhythm2 & Lead channel's volumes pulled out, Lead Drive pulled out. EQ not used.

Hope this helps.

you can listen to it there:

music section, "illusive motives"

its an ESP with Alder body... IMO EMG85 is the best bridge pickup... i had 81s, and i have dimarzio Evolution in my Ibanez..

tell me what do you think...

Post on my web link below this post.
There is also a link there for the G-Major forum we have.

Nice playing and nice tone........the emg85 is THE bridge pickup...leave the numetal kids play with their81s.......i have the 85 in 3 of my guitars, everytime i say i do not need 3 guitars with the same pickup and every time i swapped it for something else i missed its tone........

thank you,

i found the combination of the alder in the body with 81s to be harsh and like having an OD pedal all the time...

I cant understand why they think that EMG85 is a neck pickup.. it Ok there.. but in Bridge position is a phenomenal pu.. so full and fat!!!

what neck pus do you use? i have tried 85, 81 and i now have an 60.. i love it for clean stuff and midgain applications but i dont like it for higher gain leads

i'm not a big fan of humbuckers in the neck position............i only use singles(SA) for the mid and neck pos.
