can anyone figure oiut how to pull the chassis from a combo?

i took out all 4 screws on top, and loosened the cabinet ground screw, and it still won't budge.
i think it has something to do with this little shelf and bolt supporting the power tranny.

am i missing something? how do i get this out of the cabinet?

I think so too. Have you cranked that bolt yet?

Just checking here - please don't take this the wrong way, but you know what you're doing right? You know how to discharge the filter caps, right? I'll assume that you know that touching the wrong thing in there can kill you, even days after the amp has been plugged in.

One of the reasons I ask is that you're about to pull the chassis with IEC cable and the power tubes still in. I'm no pro, but I like to pull them, just in case. makes getting a grip a lot easier too.

yes, i know what i'm doing with tube amps quite well.

i just took the photo before i pulled everything out.
cranking that bolt doesn't do anything. the nut just goes up and down that screw, but the screw doesn't move.

It looks like there are two nuts on that bolt. I would loosen the one against the chassis and move it down to the other nut and tighten them together. Then turn the lower nut to screw the bolt into the chassis, thus releiving the upward pressure.

My Mark V head came with the reverb cables loose. It took me quite a long time to plug them back and I needed to use a couple of screwdrivers to do it since it was impossible to stick my fingers in the gap left between the side of the cabinet and the tranny.
