Both.They sound much better,and will generally outlast the current production.Back in the day,tubes were used by everybody.The military bought tubes by the millions.So if you wanted to snag a military contract your tubes had better be up to snuff.This resulted in much higher quality control and components.Nowadays the tube market is very narrow,there are less manufacturers,and they basically have you by the short hairs.Most Hi-Fi guys wont use anything but NOS so the makers dont have to cater to them,its pretty much just us. They are getting a little better,but costs are a big factor as is the case everywhere today.
