Hey guys, no doubt a topic that has been beat to death but I need some advice. I want to buy an amp that is in Alberta Canada (I am in Ontario, Canada) but want to confirm a good, secure transaction. How to I make sure I will receive the product I am purchasing and at the same time assure the seller I am a legit purchaser? I would be using UPS to the company I work for. If that helps....
Thanks
Tony

UPS offers C.O.D (Cash on delivery) maybe that's an option.

I would stay away from the paypal gift option. if you use paypal ask the seller to send an invoice for goods... not gift not service. usually the burden of legitimacy is on the seller, just because they won't ship until funds clear. check references (ebay) when possible. As long as you aren't trying to get it shipped to Nigeria you should be fine.

His EBay feedback is good. He also mentioned NOT using PayPal because of commission fees but would use it. He'd prefer online banking or an interac email transfer. Is this ok or am I opening up my bank account to fraud b.s.
I sound like such an idiot but I'd rather do this than be an idiot with no amp or money!
Thanks for your help, guys!

just pay the extra 3% paypal fee. tell him to add it on to the price. What are you buying and how much? is it posted somewhere we can see?

I try and get a phone number and talk it over. You can feel the guy out and make sure he's not a flake.

That's usually good advice.

If you have concerns, but really want the item, it's possible to arrange a private sale via ebay. that inlcudes all the ebay protection but obviously the commissions too.
