I posted this over in the 'Modern Amps' forum...maybe this is the appropriate place for this question.
When using the transformer shunt method of reading current draw, should I divide the reading by 3 to account for the 3 pwoer tubes per side on the primary of the OT? This seems logical since when reading 4 power tubes, you need to divide by two to arrive at the actual current draw per tube.
Why am I reading current draw??? I am curious and like to know how the amp is actually running. Who knows when a resistor is going to change parameters? I have never been a plug in some new tubes and go guy....comfortably, at least.

George at Mesa confirmed that I need to divide by 3 in this situation.
HE also shared that I would be surprised by how 'cool' the draw would be. I am, and these tubes should last a long while at this setting. They are at 30% of plate dissipation and sound great for the player....good articulation, great harmonic definition....he is happy.
IS this plate dissipation in the range of 'normal' for Mesa amps? I am thinking probably so...I should have taken another 15 seconds of George's time, but I know he is a busy fellow.
