I am trying a Jensen 12 Blackbird now in my Rect-O-Verb Series II, it's smooth, I can say that much.
Overall I'd say the speaker has a good deal of bottom end, mids are tapered back just a little, the highs are nice.
I wanted to tame the Mids a little on the Mesa, this speaker seems to allow me more room to "tweak" my amp.
I sort of felt "stuck" with the tone using the stock speaker, I could get a nice sound, but was limited to how effective the treble, mid and presence knobs were. I find with this Jensen Blackbird, the sound is a little more "neutral" and therefor I can adjust things a little more. I'd say, to guys that like a LOT of mid, this might not be the speaker for you.
I'll have to repost when I get more hours on it. For now, I like it, but it's not really broken in yet.

I am playing a PRS Custom 24 with Dragon II's in it & PRS Single cut with SC245-PUP's in it. :)
I like this whole setup better now that I got away from the PRS 'RP' pickups which had WAY too much midrange for my tastes.
Now ... what am I playing? I'm a classic rock guy (not heavy metal or "thunker" player), I play some Blues and Jazz also.
I like a traditional tone, think Keaggy (with his old Les Paul), Skynyrd, Santana, Di Meola, Frampton, Larry Carlton, Gary Moore, I'm sure there's more. I have several amps, but my Rect-O-Verb seems to be the one I like the most. I also like my Mesa Nomad 100 through a 4x12 birch ply cab (four Celestion G75 12T) especially for outdoor venues.
Other speakers I've tested in the Rect-O-Verb:
Celestion G75 12 - Very nice speaker, probably one of the better choices from Low to High balance.
Eminence - Swamp Thang - "Interesting" Chunky bottom, mid swept, weird (a little harsh?) highs.
Celestion - Vintage 30 - Bottom was too flabby in an openback (or in this amp). I like it in a closed back extension cab.
Tone Tubby - Ceramic - It was "OK", again I thought the bottom was flabby (not supposed to happen with that speaker?!)
Stock Speaker - Nice - A little more "Modern" sounding (stronger mids) than I prefer.
