@all:
Hi,
great forum for great amps. My first posting.

I have a 92 Dual Rectifier Trem-O-Verb 2nd series that some of you praise as "the holy grail" of Rectifiers but just can´t get a fat, face-kicking, defined rhythm tone out of it.
One reason might be that the tubes are worn out. So can someone recommend me "the best" tubes for real tight, mean rhythm sound? No soloing with this amp.
Many thanks!

I think you may have some of the info incorrect...Tremoverbs didn't exist in 92, especially not the series 2...

As for tubes, I like str420 and str440's.

I'm in the process of retubing my TOV right now and I found Eurotubes and Dougs tubes to be the best places to go. I was looking at their kits and even though the TOV is a dual recto, its completely different configuration so send em an email with the tones that your looking for (I went as far as to link to tones from songs on youtube) and they each sent me a "kit" list to get the tones that I'm wanting to get. Of course you can't get all the tones you want as your kinda limited on channel options but i listed off the tones im shooting for and got a response as to what channels to use (even cloning settings) to get from a blackface clean to brad paisley rockabilly to metallica's 95-2001 tones to even newer emigrate/rammstein girth anyways, shoot em an email and let em know what amp you have, the serial (for circuitry info) and just kinda what your aiming for you wont be disappointed ill let you know how my retubing goes =) (ps. these guys know their stuff cause I was given practically two identical kits they had pieced together so since both custom tube kits are just about spot on the same, I trust I won't be disappointed.)

I just went to EUROTUBES as well to redo my Tremoverb combo. I went with 2 GZ34's Rec tubes, 4 JJ EL34L's for that extra bit of low tightness, and a 5 new JJ ECC83s preamp tubes. I'll report back as I'm used to running this with 6L6's so we'll see...
