Best recorded Mark V tones?

I know Petrucci obviously--which of his recordings best showcases the amp? Any other recordings? I know Miles Kennedy is using one as well...anyone else?

Haven't studied it the way you want to, so all I can offer is that Alex Lifeson is another MKV user. When he isn't using Hughes and Kettner, that is. Sorry, don't know history, what songs, etc., but this Rush web site *might* help or help connect you with someone who knows more than I do:

didn't lamb of god use Mark V amps on Resolution? i think they switched to Royal Atlantic amps after, but im sure the album was done with the V.

Yeah, sorry I don't usually post here...it isn't quite as busy as the other forums I frequent and I need to be more patient. Thanks for the heads up on Lifeson, although I am pretty sure he only uses the MkV for clean tones.

I'm just waiting for my new MkV head to come in from Cali and I'd love to hear something other than a guy playing a MkV by himself on YouTube. It would be nice to hear some good rock (not metal) tones sitting with a band. Strange how this amp is almost universally praised but not featured on many albums I can see.

As a contrast to the metal bands mentioned before, the lead guitarist from Two Door Cinema Club, Sam Halliday, plays through a V. They have a popish indie rock sound if you are unfamiliar.

check out "snap this", "tele funk", "beyond the light" are all mark v.

"hairy legs" and "little lover" are mark v on the leads.

"the siege of bastogne" outro solo is mark v.

Think of each Mark amp as upgrades to the existing Mark sound. The Mark V still sounds like a Mark IV that still sounds like a Mark III so on and so forth. So listen to any Mark IIC+ or IV users and you can most likely get that tone on the V. It's not like a Marshall where each new amp is totally different than its predecessor, JCM 800 to 900 to DSL etc. Pros using the older Marks don't necessarily have a reason to upgrade so the list of users isn't that big yet.

Ola is awesome when he is using a Mark V,I follow him on facebook and love his crisp sounding videos as well.... And I wish they had a thumbs up icon for great posts as well here.

To answer your original question, almost all (if not all) of A Dramatic Turn of Events was recorded with a Mark V. So pick any song in there, and there is a great chance it is a Mark V. I think OTBOA shows a pretty typical sound of a V. A little smoother than Petrucci's tones before. Also, the outro solo to "The Count of Tuscany" was recorded with a V. That's a great way to compare it to an earlier mark (I think IIC+) on the intro solo.

Also, you can check out this guy's youtube page. A lot of his stuff is just him, but some have backing tracks or live performances with a band. Lots of V stuff, lots of other equipment too.
