So, who has used or is currently using Mark III's? Did Holdsworth at one point?

Dan Spitz used one back in the day.

This must have been during "Persistence of Time." You can see it on Youtube for the video "Got the Time." It's actually a combo on top of a cabinet.

Trey used one in the early Phish days. In my opinion that's when he sounded his absolute best. He's using a deluxe reverb now.

Was this around the "Rift" era? If so, that is also my favorite Phish tone.

Yes - at least through Rift, maybe even longer than that. Here's a link describing his set-up in the 90s. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but there's some interesting stuff.

For which album did James Hetfield use a mark III??
I thought it was for his live setup for the justice tour

As far as I know, none.

Then again, what is certain these days? He had 'em laying around during the TBA days, so who's to say he didn't haul them in to try 'em out in the endless slew of amps they used on TBA.

he used it until 97/98. in 97, he worked the deluxe in and was using it full time by the end of 98. not a fan of his tone after that point. there was an easter gig in 200(4)? that he busted the boogie back out for. it sounded killer.

Marco Sfogli here some pics taken when he recorded James Labrie's Elements of Persuation

The guy in Sexual Chocolate from Coming to America played one. :D

He had the "Soul Glo"...

That was one of my favorite movies. I loved the fun that was poked at by Murphy in that movie. He really took a piss at everyone in NY's culture which is just about everyone. I thought that Arsenio looked kind of light in the step, if you know what I mean, though I always thought that of him even with his antics on his own show back in the day. Does this make me kind of old? Ah hell, I don't care anymore... I just see it as having had more exposure to more stuff thus giving me a better chance at wisdom someday.

ever notice that karl denson is in sexual chocolate?

Ahh, Sykes used the MK III 150 watters... Sweet.

Being a BoogieoPhile, I could not help but notice the MK III in Coming to America. Karl Denson is the sax player.

Did anyone ever see Robert Cray playing bass for Otis Day and the Knights?

Yes, we are old and have no life.
