Are the Tremoverb and Rectoverb clean channels the same?

I've had both the T-verb and ROV, but I played hard rock at the time and never really used the clean channels...... I've now got a T-verb and was shocked at how much I like the clean channel! In fact, I use it quite a bit in my semi-country band with my Telecasters and get some wicked twang.

The only problem is the dang thing weighs almost 100 pounds! Which leads me to think that maybe getting a ROV would be the way I'd want to go, but I don't want to loose that clean tone.

Anyone have both that could compare the cleans? The reverb isn't that big of a deal since I'm not a big reverb user.

Thanks, Jason

The Rectoverb is nothing like the Tremoverb, the cleans are much cleaner and more Fender-like. The Tremoverb cleans are much more Marshall-like. The two amps are very different - the Tremoverb is like a 2-channel Dual Rectifier, with both channels using the same signal path, which is Marshall (via Soldano) based. The Rectoverb is like a 3-channel Rectifier, with two different signal paths, the clean channel being more Fender-like and the overdrive channels being like the older model. I don't think you'll get the same rich twang/crunch out of the ROV.

You might not find the ROV is much easier to cart than the TOV either. It's still a fairly heavy amp (at least 70lbs I think) and only has a single top handle. I actually find the TOV less of a pain because it has really good wheels and side handles - the only difficult move is straight up, and even that you get used to. I only weigh 140lbs by the way.

And whether it really matters or not, the reverb on the TOV is *miles* better than the ROV. You may find it does matter more than you think...
