Are the newer B Mark IV amps regarded as being better?

...... than the A versions? .... in over all tone?

My buddy has an early Mk IV and just can't seem to get any good bass response out of it. He may sell it to me, but I'm not sure I want it. Are the later versions a better amp?

Comments or suggestions ? :?:

A's and B's are very much the same.

There is a little bit more gain on the lead of the B and the A is more IIC+ like in the lead channel.

But the voicing is the same as far as i heard.

Hmm! Thanks. I guess the only prob with going with an older one is the filter caps have more wear on them. I wonder if the transformers have remained the same quality wise?

Lots of folks think the Amp is the "only" piece of hardware in the chain. When in fact, you should take a look at the speakers . They are 1/2 of the tone. Are they "bass" friendly???? My Mark IV has PLENTY of Bass and a pull "FAT" knob.

Some fatness can be found in your string gauge and in your playing style through the tone of the guitar you are using too. Just a thought....
