Hi all, has anybody done a 110v->240v transformation on their dual rec? If so, what's involved? There's a couple of US origin heads over here in the UK that I'm interested in and would prefer to not have to run with the step down transformer. Is it just a case of changing the power transformer and that's it? Or are there other changes to go with it? Better to use standard Mesa parts, or would other substitutes suffice?

I did do a search but couldn't find all the answers I'm looking for :(

Thanks in advance :)

All you need to do is change the transformer but you will need the UK or export part number.

By the way hanslow which part of derbyshire are you from??

lento, I've seen the second thread, not the first one, thanks :) Will have a good read. Read some other stuff on gearpage, but as this is related directly to Mesa amps, thought I'd ask those that may have done it :)

VP, I'm in Crich near Matlock. I assume that a call to Mesa distributor will yield the relevant part number so should hopefully be safe :)

I live just the other side of Ripley a few miles away.

It seems as though the UK distributor do not appreciate imported amps they sometimes ask for proof of a UK part in the amp before they will send you a replacement and that the work has to be carried out by a qualified electrician via a music shop, which can tend to be costly if the electrican and music shop start sticking there 30% on top each

I know of a music shop which used to sell mesa boogies locally if that would be any help to you??

Are you in Britain? Go to World Guitars in Gloucester and tell em a friend of Rob Chapman sent you, they'll take care of you. They're good guys and have a bunch of nice Mesas to boot.

Mesa mains power transformer # 561137 is what you need to run from 230 volt UK voltage

I think the US PT is # 561136 ....

There is also circuit protection from transient voltage by Varistor..this will need changing too

Kaz, I am indeed in Britain, Gloucester is about 120 miles away from me, so a bit of a trek, but will keep it in mind thanks :)

Stuart, thanks for the part numbers and the other thing you mentioned (whatever it is ;) ) :)

That's kind of a walk. Better pack a lunch! ;p

I'm too scared to get the transformer in mine changed, so I just put up with using the step-down transformer. It's fine for me.

i use a 500W ,220 to 110 converter for my dual rectifier. Dont use under 500 watt because it gets so hot and it might be dangerous
