Any Stiletto owners use the Fulltone OCD or Xotic BB Preamp?

I'm looking at both of these pedals for a little boost plus to use as an overdrive. I need a little versatility since you can't footswitch between the modes. For example, I am playing rythym in the Tite Gain mode, but can't footswitch to Fluid Drive to solo. The Solo switch will give a volume boost, but no extra gain. I would like to boost the gain just a hair for the solo. Also, I'd like to keep channel one on Clean but be able to switch on an overdrive so can keep Channel 2 dedicated to my higher gain.

Was wondering if anyone had used these and which one might sound better on the Stiletto.

I've been using a BBE Boosta Grande in front of my Series I - works great! Gives me that extra juice when I need it.

i use mine stiletto exactly the way you do, tite gain for heavy rhy and a boost for solos. im using right now a Barber LTD blackface and having wonderfull results, although it could have a lil more volume.

just received 2 clean boosts this week (both have 25dB of boost, but one has a tone knob (filter-cut) and the other dont), still trying'em, but so far i liked the one with the tone knob more. the other one brings up the stilettos treble personality even more. althoug theyre clean boosts they add just a tad more girth, exactly the way you want.

never played the BB through the stiletto, only through my MK3 and it sounded very good (although nothing THAT different from a Barber DD for that matters). i dont know how the BB behaves in a EL34 based amp, but as usual in any TS type pedals, they love 6L6s.

Instead of re-typing, I'll just cut-n-paste a reply I made to a similar question in the effects forum. I use both the BB and the OCD w/ my stage I Stiletto:

"Stiletto channel 1 w/ no pedals: Clean to light crunch (adjusted w/ guitar's volume).
" " " w/ BB pre: My main dirty rhythm tone. Smooth, creamy OD (sometimes w/ EQ adjustments)
" " " w/ OCD: Slightly higher gain OD w/ a bit more "bite". When I need more "crunch", less "cream"
" " " w/ both: When I want to really push the BB for a searing overdrive. Mostly for solo's.
Stiletto channel 2 /w no pedals: Tite Gain pushed pretty hard. Gain knob @75% ;80's Metal, think JCM 800 territory
" " " /OCD : Over-the-top distortion. Really pushes the Stiletto close to modern-rock territory w/ EQ adjustments. I also use it for high gain solo's (as a boost) on channel 2. I think the OCD really works well here.

I make good use of both pedals. I mainly use the OCD w/ high gain amp settings, it's EQ curve seems to work best w/ my amp for that type of thing. The BB is smoother, which is fine, but a bit less effective at higher gain. But it shines at lower gain.

Also, keep in mind that the various OCD's sound a bit different (from what I am told). Mine is v.1, which has the reputation as being a bit spiky in the high end. I don't think so, but it's something to consider.

Hope that helps...

I use the OCD v.4 for my series I and like it. I mostly keep the level up and the gain down for leads. Been thinking about a clean boost as well like the BBE or smething along those lines. Haven't heard the Xotic, but alot of folks use them. Not sure you would go wrong with either.

The OCD works awesome with my Trident I. Cant go wrong with that ped. I have one. I like the rat's better for the stilettos. darkens it up a bit and tames some of the highs. I use it on my tite gain ch when I need more gain for leads. I also have a modded SD-1 that sounds pretty good too. The OCD is the most quiet of the 3.

I've had good luck with the Xotic AC on Stiletto. Doesn't color the tone (if that's what you're looking for), sounds transparent like you turned the gain up on your Stiletto. My pedal dealer talked me out of BB because he said Stiletto has so much gain as it is, the lower gain AC would be more versatile. So I ran the gain on AC around 10-11:00 for that gain boost, still had plenty of room to spare.

Thats not my take on the Xotic pedals. I own the BB, and the AC models and find the BB to be very transparent with no to medium gain and the AC model to have more gain with the sound slightly colored. I use the BB with my Stilleto to add a little more bass and punch keeping the gain turned down using the gain from the amp.I also will use my MI Audio Crunch Box alot to get more gain as needed.
