Angstrom Cases...Are they any good?

Hi There, Does anyone have or had an Angstrom Road Case? Are they a good value for the money or would you go a different route? What are some of your recommendations for a reasonably priced, well made hard shell case? ie- Anvil, Rock Hard, etc...

I just bought one....I'll let you know. One thing I can say is that the service is great. They answer emails usually in less than an hour!

Well, to answer my own question, I had gone ahead and purchased one on E-bay. It arrived pretty quickly and the service was good. They were very responsive to my questions. They even took the time to give me positive feedback after the purchase.

The case itself is pretty well made. I bought the 3/8 case. My amp fit it like a glove and I'm reasonably confident that it will protect it very well. Although the 3/8 inch ply is probably overkill for the amount of transporting that I do, It was just a little more money, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. I have my amp and a 2x12 on top of it and there is no problem with it supporting the weight, so it doubles as a speaker stand.

I saw nothing flimsy about the way it is constructed. So, I think that it was a good purchase.

It's a behemoth, very large. They are definitely nice cases. Well built and heavy duty. They had better be for what they cost.

I'm a little disappointed with Angstrom right now, though.
You see, I did a lot of research before purchasing the 3/8" ply road case for my Stiletto. They were the only company I found that "said" they had a case that precisely fit it. 25-5/8" length. There were other, much cheaper, options that were 26" with extra foam to fill in, but I wanted the best possible protection for the amp so I paid the extra $100 over what other manufacturers cases cost. Well, when it arrived at my house, my amp was at the studio so I took a tape measure to it. Inner width=26". I even waited until I had the chance to put my amp in it before sending them an email stating they had sent the wrong case.

The replied quickly and said that they did not send the wrong case, when obviously they did.
They said they measure every case before it leaves the factory. Well, I too have a tape measure and it must have grown 3/8" coming across the border from Canada.

26" does not equal 25-5/8". So far the've only offered to send me extra foam. Well all I can say is that they better tuck a $100 bill in with it. I doubt they're going to do that, though so I'm going to return it.

Some may think, "why are you sweating 3/8". Well I paid an extra $100 for it , that's why.

I'm a little peeved right now so excuse me for venting.

Hey MesaMadness, sorry to hear that you had trouble with the fit. I can see where you'd be frustrated. They're not the most expensive case out there, but they're not exactly cheap either.

I got one for my Road King and it fits perfect. But even if it was 3/8" too long I wouldn't sweat it because it couldn't possibly make a difference. My VHT case is a 1/2" too long and it's actually easier to get in and out that way.

Yeah, I'm just going to have them send the foam and live with it. It's really not too much space. I just felt mislead by the ebay ad. They should explain that there is a 3/8" gap with the head inside. I realize that if the case were exactly 25-5/8" that it would be hell getting the thing in and out, but I expected a tighter fit. I'll chock it up to my own inexperience. Thanks guys.

I was going to ask the same question in here. haha I just bought the Drop in ATA case for my triple Recto, should be here in about 5 days. I'll give you my feedback when it comes in. The dealer was very nice though, even waited a couple days for me to pay them b/c of funds being in the mail. Quick to reply emails as well. Anyway, looking forward to getting it, so i don't have just a cloth case to protect it on the road (although better than nothing/glad Mesa started shipping them with the head and cabs!!)

Hey guys I just got a Head Case from Angstram, and man was i impressed. They seem to be very well built and sturdy. I'll post a pick if anyone's interested (of how it fits and all). I got the Recto series head case with the additional storage compartment.Appears to be very good stuff my friends. Look to get the Live-in cab case within the next few weeks....8)

i've been wanting to get one for my 2x12 cabinet. for some reason everyone thinks i'm ridiculous/ anal for putting my amps and stuff in ATA cases. to some degree i think i am anal about my equipment, but hey i love my stuff and i hate scrapes and dings, not to mention the stuff is very valuable.

i think angstrom's prices are a little bit high, but i've heard nothing but great reviews about the cases. i've also emailed them a few times for custom quotes and they were very helpful and quick to respond. their prices are still a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a custom Anvil case made (which i think are highly overrated anyway)

Has anyone had experience with www.affordable-cases.com ?

I got the case with the thicker wood and I'd say somewhere around 30 lbs. or so. They're not light.

No Problem... I just checked my old Fedex tracking number and the shipping weight of 3/8" version of the case with storage for the Road King head was 40.8 lbs. So you take a few pounds off for the packaging.

I bought the heavier case so I didn't have to worry about it holding the weight of a 2x12 cab and the cab. It's very solid and doubles as stand to get the cab off the floor and I don't have to bend to make any adjustments to the head.

Yeah, that's real nice Brewski, I like that engine turned Reverend!! I own two Angstram cases, head case and cab case, and really like them. They are well built to handle everyday wear, and give great piece of mind. haha.
