I sold my Mark III for a Tremoverb a while back. I'm going through some Mark III withdrawal right now. :( Do any of you know that feeling? I've felt it after every amp that I've gotten rid of. It's kind of like the feeling you get after breaking up with a girlfriend.

It seems like you can never be completely happy with a single amp. I think I'm going to buy a second amp to do "everything else". I definitely like the metal tone I'm getting out of the Tremoverb more than the one I got with the Mark III, but I really miss that whole raw vibe of the Mark III. Maybe it's the Marshally flavor I'm missing? I've been looking at Lone Star Specials and Vox AC30s. Which would be better at capturing that raw vibe I'm thinking of?

I know the feeling ... I get that way over a few guitars I've sold ... every now and then that regret~bug bites ....

... an AC30 with a couple of those blue speakers or one of those Specials, for that matter, could go a long way toward soothing that sting.

Depends on what kind of raw sound you want. I would buy a LSS over the VOX any day. Good luck amp shopping!

and I am about to go back and get another .50 cal + - this time a head. I think I will want another Mark III green stripe - a head this time. then i will trade my LSC combo for a head and get a nice cabinet and be done.

i could not be happier with the LSC - but none of them do everything.

I think I'm gonna start saving for a LSS combo. Is the LSS capable of getting that raw sound? Would you guys agree that it would a good filler for everything else that the Tremoverb can't do? i.e. smooth lead, raw crunch, and super clean tones all with a midrangy vibe?

I would have to agree on that one. Thats why I bought a Dual Rectifier, to do the stuff my LSC would not do. But now I want to replace the LSC with an old Marshal..It never ends!

The ONLY answer is . . . to buy MORE amps. I finally have my two "dream amps," a Recto and a Mark IV, but I still "need" a Soldano SLO. It just never f*cking ends.

Amen to that, there's one down at my local shop that has been sitting there for like 2 years.. it's a limited edition one too.. the output tranny in that thing makes me drool.

The problem with the Road King is that if I had it for a while I would want a Diezel. (And a divorce attorney!)

If you miss the raw vibe of the MkIII why not just get another Mark III?

Because I feel that there are better amps at capturing that rawness I'm talking about. It's also best at being a hard rock/metal amp and the DR can already do that, even better I think.
