Has it already been a year since all the "when the hell is Mesa shipping the new Mark V's!?" threads?

I had some issues at first with it, but after that it has been smooth sailing. I recorded almost an entire album with the Mark V using all three CH3 modes too!

I am going to buy another one. No doubt about it.

Oh yes, last year round this time, I remember it all too well!

The wait, the agony, the delays, the mis-information, the griping! And now, just about a year later, was it all worth it? Abso-****-lutely! I have'nt had the desire to purchase/trade for, or even play thru another amp since then.

And with the few tweaks I've made since then, (ie, tube changes, speaker experimentation, etc.) it's only gotten better since last year.

I just finished playing just alittle bit ago, and thought to myself, man, this sounds so nice, and is just so cool. Just sit back, and play, cause your tone is exactly where you want it to be!

Have any of you guys noticed too that this amp is just steadily taking off now in popularity, now that it's been about a year?

It's like folks are now over the last 8 months or so, starting to realize that this is going to become another Mesa "classic", and are lining up to get on board.

It seems at first, it was alot of, "it's thin this" and, "it doesnt measure up to/or sound like the previous Marks" that, kind of talk. Now our amp is beginning to be known as what it should have been from the start, THE MARK 5!
But we all knew that back then, did'nt we fella's? :D

I think that the first sentence says it all. Learning how the controls interact as well as choosing the tubes and speakers that best suit your ears and playing style.

The early tone comparisons were done mostly because of the wording in the Mark V users manual. If I did not already own a Mark series amp, the V would be my choice based on features. It does its own thing very well. 8) With that being said, I chose to keep my Mark IIs and buy an Electra-Dyne for a different flavour. These two amps blended in stereo are a VERY nice combination.

Man, I bet that IS a great combo! I'd love to hear that mix if you're able to throw something together some time!

june 9th for me.......... now i have an excuse to celebrate!!!!!!! great forum too!!!! :D

Almost a year for me also, and i'm very happy with it. Favorites are FAT/CRUNCH/EXTREME personally.

Mine was delivered around the 20th of May last year. I have to say it took me some time to get used to the controls and really learn how the amp works to find the tones I was after, but once I did it was soooo worth the time and effort. I'm still tweaking here and there if only to keep things fresh, but now that I understand how everything interacts I can change modes and dial in a good sound reasonably fast.

I used to spend way too much time trying different amps, reading reviews on the newest gear etc. and always thinking about what new gear would get me "that sound". Well, the MKV put an end to that! I haven't even considered tube swapping, speaker changes, or pickups since. I'm sure it could only get better, but it sounds great as it is.

I've been able to compare to quite a few amps recently as well. The space my band rehearses in neighbors with many of our friends bands, and there is a nice collection of amps in that building. I've had the chance to play through old Vox AC30's, Silverface and Blackface Fender Twins, Marshall JCM 800, 900, 2000, as well as a Dual Recto, 5150, a Carvin V3 and Legacy. With the exception of the Carvins, the other amps made me think "Yeah, that sounds nice, but I'm set with my Boogie." I just didn't care for the Carvins at all.

If you don't have yours yet, I don't think it will let you down. I still smile everytime I fire mine up one year later!

I sold all my other amps since then. It's my only amp now. I've tweaked it a bit with tube selection and whatnot but it's a stellar amp for sure.

Here, here. Been a almost a year for myself as well. The honeymoon is long over but I still luv this amp. Speaking for myself this is it for me. This amp with the versatility of the modes and a couple of pedals give me any sound I want or need. Mesa really hit it out of the ball park with this one.
