so i can pull out 2 power tubes.. and a 1 rectifier tube.. and the impedence is doubled and thats all i have to do to reduce the output???

thanks!

So if its in the 16 ohm jack.. its actually 8 ohms i should run into the cab and keep it at 16 on the amp?

But it won't really make a difference in volume.

1/2 power =/ 1/2 volume

1/10 power = 1/2 volume

If you have a 16 ohm cab, you want to run it into the 8 ohm tap on the amp. If you have an 8 ohm cab, you want to run it into the 4 ohm tap on the amp.

The impedance is actually doubled on the amp's end. 4 turns into 8, 8 turns into 16, etc.

consensus here prefer the tone of "all 100 watts" than the lower the output or removing two power tubes.

And like mentioned in above post, lowering the output by removing two of the power tubes is not a major dramatic drop in volume (SPL loudness).
