I play a wide variety of music and am looking to get these four sounds out of my new pet monster:

Channel 1:using tweed mode, a Led Zeppelin crunch sound
Channel 2:using fat mode, a crystal clear clean sound that won't break up
Channel 3:using vintage mode, a smooth Santana sound
Channel 4:using modern mode, a huge modern sound (3DD,creed,etc)

My rig is the roadster head with 4x12 cab, 1996 PRS w/dragon 1's, Washburn Idol w/ PRS tremonti pickups

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like you are on the right track with the channel setup already! Just adjust the gain, EQ, and presence to taste now! I personally run mine in bold with the switches on the back all on 100W and Recto-tracking, except channel 2 is on 50W for a good clean clean. :)

Start with the EQ straight up at 12:00. The Tweed crunch sound will need some extra presence and treble to help it sizzle. Try the gain and master at 12:00 for starters as well. as you raise one, lower the other untill you have a nice balance of pre-amp breakup and power amp sustain. Rectifier choice is up to you, diode for razor sharp attack or tube for some nice compressed sag and earlier breakup.

Try Fat for your cleans with the gain very low and the master way up (almost full on). SS Diode rectified, 100W. Same EQ approach, presence to taste.

Ch 3 Vintage, tube rectified is the place to start for smooth leads, although Santana's sound is Mark all the way. Try 50W to help bring on the power tube saturation. I find the ch master's sweet spot to be around 11-11:30. Same EQ approach. Try not to push the gain above 2-2:30, the EQ will loose focus and chords will loose definition.

Modern is ch 4, 100W SS diode rectified. Watch the bass, it's easy to get carried away. Again, keep the gain under control, use sheer volume to provide the punch and sustain.

Don't be afraid of the mids in all modes. It really helps to add some 'nut' to the low gain sounds and 'cut' to the high gain sounds.

Good luck, have fun !!

Mesa should include these instructions with the roadster as a quick-start guide. Great advice.
