Hey guys. Just a few questions. I play exclusively in channel 2 on modern setting with gain pretty high. From what I have learned when i am on channel 2 it doesnt use the two big power tubes. Is this correct? So when I change power tubes do different brand this wont effect my tone at all while in channel 2 correct?

I was also doing some research on compression pedals. Cant really find any explanations on what it would do for my tone on the single rectifier in the modern channel. Thanks guys.

No, that isn't true. Without your power tubes your amp wouldn't work very well ;)

Changing them will have an effect on your tone regardless of what channel you're in.

As far as compression, it will fatten up chords and smooth out your notes. It's good for single note runs or for consistancy on stage with volume. I personally don't care for compression myself, I let the amps natural distortion be my compressor.

definately don't feel stupid. Everyone can't know everything. that is what these boards are for!

Don't.

Once upon a time I gave a guy this really stupid look after he asked me how I liked the humbucker that was in my guitar. I didn't know what he was talking about....I just thought it was called a pickup. The worst part was that it was another year or so before I learned that those double pickups were called humbuckers.
