6V6's with a Mark IV whats the deal?

I just pick up my 2nd mark IV (I foolishly sold my first one)
I've generally preferred all 6L6's in the IV, but I've seen some posts
in other forums of people really liking the IV with all 6V6's.
What's does using that type of tube do and is it safe to do with the mark IV?
I am primarily a pretty high gain player (mostly shred stuff some DT in there too)
so I've been pretty happy using all 6L6's, but I'm curious.

There's a brief section about using 6V6's in the manual - check that out. I think it's really for if you're going for a certain vintage type sound - I don't really think there's much need for them if you're going for more modern sounds. Stick with the 6L6's, or maybe try a pair of EL34's in the outer positions - I like them.

So I think I'll forgo the 6V6 experiment as I'm not looking for vintage tones.

Well it arrived and it's very clean (thank god)
the previous owner has EL-34L's in the Class A sockets.
Interesting sound, I did not really like EL-34's in my old mark IV but
I'm on the fence with these, they seem to work pretty well with R2 as a more marshally sound(I have an EQ in
the loop that really helps shape that kind of sound)
I think they do detract from the Lead channel a bit. I have fresh 6L6's I will have to do a swap and see how much of a difference there is. I kind of like this added flexibility in tone I'm getting though.
Oh and I've been using it with my Axe FX II as a power amp out to my Recto cab.
Works beautifully which is a huge plus for my needs.
I'm so glad to have one of these amps in my possession again

I dig the el34's outside, but I would think you might like 6l6's in all 4 if you shred. 6v6 are not gonna make that big of a difference and will also limit your options for settings on the amp, (although, sometimes I think there are too many choices already!!)
