Does the DR come stock with both 6L6s and EL34s? Also, if one decides to run the amp w/ EL34s, you can leave the 6L6 sockets empty, and vise versa, right?
Thanks,

It seems that trying EL34s might kill the boom. Hesitant to try KT66s as the amp not specifically designed for them it seems (& I'm a plug and play king of person)
I am going to order a set of tubes. As well as a new set of 6L6s, I will get a set of EL34s for fun. What does 'biased at 90% dissipation" mean? I thought I could just whack in EL34s and flick the switch on the back.mikey383 said:I used a set of JJ E34Ls in my Dual for going on 3 years biased at 90% dissipation, and didn't have the first problem with them. I've had more blown 6L6s than I have EL34s.

First up I had the SED EL34s with all stock Mesa 12AX7s and rectifiers. Sounded great.
Then I removed all the stock Mesa 12AX7s and rectifiers and put in a mix of EH, Tungsol, Sovtek & JJ tubes. Didn't sound as good. Too much fizz. I will experiment further. The change the EL34s made on their own was very nice though.
