Actually, according to one of the Boogie catalogs from the eighties, it mentions the boogie half back metal grill cabs to be made of mahogany.

And recent Mesa catalogs mention the thieles to be composed of Birch.

My thiele and my metal grill was built with mahogany..

Definition - Philippino Mahogany = Luan = cheap mahogony plywood
I have stripped a few 80's Mesa cabs for re-tolexing and all were made with "Luan" aka Philipino Mahogany Plywood.

I assume you don't mean hardwood for the 4x12 but it could be.

Platy hard to say what speaker/ cab combination would do it all.
But in a metal grille halfback try a mix of EV's in the bottom and something like the Eminence MS-12 (150w) or VS-12's (50w) up top.

isn't hardwood. i'll post ASAP some pics. you can recognize the moahogany by the red color of the wood..
