I currently have a 1x12 widebody classic cab that is 8ohms running into my Rectoverb head. I want to add a roadster 2x12 to the mix which I know also is 8 ohms. In theory I want to use the parralel out on the roadster to the 1x12 (8ohms) which I'm gonna put a greenback into. I know this would make the total load into 4ohms now...so the question is do I now use the 4 ohm output on the head? Hope you get the idea...Thanks.

Yes, and don't you ever run 8ohms speakers in parallel in a 8ohms output. Keep it in the 4 ohms output.

Matched output R(or less)= (R1*R2) / (R1+R2)

You know, that should be in a FAQ section or stickied. So many people ask that. It would be nice to just post the formula and let them figure it out.

Yeah, I agree but it's also in every manual you get, I assume. My early 2 channel DR manual has the cabs/ohms/safe mismatch pages. Very nice !

It's also on Mesa's site on .pdf maybe a site admin..uhmpphhhmmm...hint...could sticky it...maybe ? It would save a lot of rewriting and time for other things like bashing lesser amp companies  ...just kidding guys !

Mesa rules !

SInce we're on the topic of ohms.....I just got myself a 2x12 vintage cab recently and was wondering if and/or how a speaker's ohm rating affects it's overall sound. I was pondering new speakers, and I have the option of getting the speakers in either 8 or 16 ohm. Of course, the way the speakers are wired affect the end rating, but it's whether or not the sound will be altered in any way. Thanks.
