It got one serial loop knob ,small mesa logo and should be an ex from ca 1994.
but I think ive to check the super good "boogie archives". lots of info there.

thanks all of you.

Only problem with recorded sound clips or even recorded albums is you will never get a true tone of the amp that you will in person. Not to mention I could take the same amp, move the MIC just ever so slightly on the cone of the speaker and it will change the tone. Then you got all different kinds of thing effecting tone over all, guitar, guitar pickups, speaker cabinet etc.... Then depending on how the person EQ's the amp will also effect the overall tone, then are they doing any eq'ing at the board, once again this will effect the overall tone.

You can sit there and listen to clips all day, but honestly I could take a little crappy amp and make it sound good just by eq'ing it right, the best way to find the right amp for you is to go out and play them till you find what you like.

I agree with what you're saying, but my Triple Rec sounds exactly like those clips.

MYYYY GOOOOD!!!!! it is a mesa boogie dual rectifier 2 channel nr r0355. hopefully it is a rev. d but i dont care. what a sound!!!!!it is amazing. compared to a 3 channel.it is like night and day.

i like the 3 channel but this........IM STUNNED

Congrats on a sick amp! 355 is a D. My favorite of all I've tried so far, although I've had an E in my room for 3 weeks and haven't plugged in!

All I can say is......WE TOLD YOU SO !!! lol enjoy it man

Elpelotero!!! I owe you many thanks. you ve helped me alot with tips and tricks!!

....and ill be the first to say"you was right". this is an incredible amp.sounds so smooth and thick and tight.so different to the 3 channels.(you can make them tight too)

rock on!!!

yeah im happy but im gonna change the tubes soon. which shall I choose. don t like the jj s. mesa boogie tubes(labelled) are hard to get in my town.

it is either electro harmonix or ruby ´tubes ???????

or otherwise im gonna order TAD s

mattias (right?), do a check on TAD 6l6 WGC-STR ... i found my rev c to sound better with 6L6 and for my soldano's i only use TAD (6L6 WGC-STR). I have such good experiences with TAD, i'd stay with them forever and a day.

Congrats !!!

You've got one of the best metal amp ever made. This is going to take all its sense when you're going to play it with a band. It has a sick tone but what i like the most is the way it cuts through the mix, some other amps i have tried sounded as good or better when playing alone but could not compare in a live or studio application.

If you play heavy music you should experiment with EL34s. Many metal players i know tried El34s in their recto for rythm works and never went back to 6L6. Try SED EL34s and ask for "late break up", best power tubes i have tried in my 2 pre-500 Drs. I own #29C and 406D. I actually happen to like C more than D, i find it to be meaner yet more defined and focused at the same time. But this is just my taste i guess :) I plan on selling my #406, i don't use it anymore since i have #29 wich i got from Epelectro on this board.

here are my rev D settings if you want to tried them:
(very heavy but thight and define rythm tone)

El34
bold and siliconne
loop active (nothing in it), send knob to 7
red channel
master 12 o'clock (control the amp's volume with the black knob on the left (loop's return))
presence 11 o'clock , bass 11 o'clock, mids 13 o'clock, highs 13 o'clock, gain 12 o'clock

now the icing on top of the cake
IN FRONT of the amp
put an Overdrive with Gain set to 0 (zero), tone to 50 to 70%, level to 60 to 90%. (best and also cheapest OD i have found to put in front of my Mesa to play Metal is MXR Zack Wyld signature OD)

now with that hot signal you will need to put a Boss NS2 (noïse gate) between the OD and the amp. Otherwise the amp is going to be uncontrollable. settings are thresold max, release min.

this is the formula i have come with after 8 years of testing and improving my tone with my 3 Drs. (i also own #11950 a 1998 2 channels)

These settings are the ones i use specifically with rev D and for rythm works.
For lead works i use different settings and the other channel.

Another thing. If you don't already have one, You NEED a Mesa recto cab. The amp sounds so much better with it, don't waste money on any other cab to match with your revD. I had the chance to test 6 others brands that are known to be good for metal and the recto cab is the way to go, nothing compares.

+1000!!!!

I played with other cabs, and was really disappointed with the Recto until I paired it with a Recto cab. Since buying that, I've never been happier with my tone!
