1- If I buy 6L6 matched pairs should I put them together horyzontaly or one down one up ?

2- If I buy 6L6 matched quadruplets should I put them together horyzontaly or one down ,one up ?
Thanks

Why not buy them all the same match group and save yourself the confusion?

There should be a sticker on the back showing Ch.A and CH.B. They don't go in a row, but 4 on the left, 4 on the right.

No stickers just the way pic is showing .

how old is you model? the fan and jack layout is different than mine. I believe mine is a '98, but i have to double check. I'm a little jealous of the ground lift too.

Dead i believe you are mistaken. The tubes on the 290 are separated in rows: the 4 on top and the 4 on the bottom.

You should buy 4 of the same pair so that way it won't matter where you place them. But here is a diagram:

When you replace the pairs match like letters together.

top row A B A B
bottom row C D C D

When you replace the tubes on the new model of the 290 this is how the pairs are setup. THIS IS DIFFERENT THAN THE OLDER MODELS so please don't follow this unless you own the 290 which is pictured on the thread.

You can also use EL34's for class A but i am not sure which slots they are meant to go in.

they really changed alot on the newer models. I thought it was mostly asthetics. You can run EL34's too?

i went on the boogie site and checked out the manual's section. the 2:90 manual sucked, i have an older PDF for my model and it had many pages of info. including a drawing of the tube layout.

For those who need this information I received an answear from mesa.Pic shows the right way to replace them =

Thanks for helping mates :D

For those who want to know the right placing tubes in our 2:90 (newer or older), i've a mesa pdf very helpful. Right placement, channels identification and also how to retube with a tube mix of el34 and 6l6.

PM me if you want them via email

FOR THE WEBMASTER: if you plan to build a specific section with manuals or schematics i can send you something

Is the metal piece surrounding the tube holding the tube in place? Do you have to unscrew that to change your 6l6 tube? Or can you just pull the tube out? Thanks
