12ax7 for bass amp

Hi everyone,
My bassman has to change his tubes.
In his "trace Elliot", there are two 12 ax7 tubes.
Is there something to know about preamp tube in a bass amp or is it just like in guitar amp.
In other words, are my tubes (guitar ones) are ok for a bass amp or is there specific preamp tubes for bass ???

If he wants his amp to sound like it did when the tubes it came with were new, replace the tubes with identical ones to those that were in it... If he wants to tweak his tone, then maybe he ought to roll some different 12ax7's. No different tubes for bass than guitar. 12ax7's are 12ax7's period. Peace.

for balanced tone try 9th Generation Chinese 12AX7.

more punchy.. you can't go wrong with JJ ECC83S.

Another option would be to use a 12DW7. It is one half 12AX7 and one half 12AU7.
