Hi Folks. ...

Any views on which is the better cab?

I know this is subjective but it's worth a quick ask before I put the deposit down on one of the cabs and a mk v head tomorrow :)

Cheers

Depends on your definition of "better".

The Thiele will have more low-end and sound bigger. Both will be tight, but the Rec slant will be tighter. Either way, you'll want the cab on the ground or it will have no low-end at all.

Stacking a slant cab on a Thiele sounds GREAT.

As an alternative, I have a 1x12 closed-back ported cab that I think sounds much bigger than the Thiele. It gives my 2x12 recto vertical cab a run for its money. Huge.

The other thing to consider if you are going really open the Mark V up volume wise is that the Recto slant has a V30 which I think is rated for 60 watts Vs 90 watts for the C90 in the Thiele. If you play really loudly it's possible you could kill the V30.

As Elvis said, get both 8)

Hi

Well after all my looking at the two forementioned cabs I have ended up ordering the 1x12 wide body closed back.

As JJ said it means I will also have a 90 w speaker too.

Only 3 weeks to wait now!!

You guys think wheels take away from bottom end ?

I have both standard Thiele and wide body .... my vote is wide body.... find yourself an EV 12 L BADASS

Joe

Yes, the wheels take away from the low end. I have run my cabinets at varying height from the floor and proximity has a HUGE effect on low end. The type of flooring also matters.
