    Mark III Channel switching confusion

Seeing as I am the seller of this amp I might as well chime in here... First off, I bought it off this forum from forgivenman. He told me it was running perfectly, gave me "the tubes have a lot of life" line, etc... so I bought it and found out the 2 6L6's were old and mismatched (427, 430)...

2 channel DR history - revisions, changes, etc......

I'm looking for a 2 channel DR and would like to know what has changed on that amp since it's inception. Also, do the newer ones sound that much worse than the older ones? I've read both - that there is a big difference and that there isn't.

FS FT: Mark IV A Long Head and Mark III Blue Stripe Combo

Not sure about cathode bias. I originally had it serviced it early February and according to the receipt he re set the bias for JJ 6L6's. Whether that meant putting it back to it's original state or adding something I don't know. He didn't mention anything about a mod so it's doubtful he did...

FS FT: Mark IV A Long Head and Mark III Blue Stripe Combo

For sale or trade – Mark IV A long head and Mark III blue stripe simul- class combo. I'm looking for a 2 Channel Dual Rectifier in good or better condition or maybe a 3 channel Dual Rectifier. Mark IV A long head - fairly new (low hours) JJ 6L6 power tubes, Sovtek and GT preamp tubes, was...

    Mark IV gain issues

Changed out the preamp tubes and it made a definite difference. Even with the lower amounts of gain from the old tubes it was pretty sweet with a pedal in front. Like everyone says, it takes a while to dial these amps in. If you keep the bass control low and compensate with the EQ it's way tighter.

    Mark IV gain issues

I've tried all combinations of drive, gain, eq and volume - same results. Are you talking rhythm 2 or lead? I'll try changing the preamp tubes and I think that should work. On rhythm 2 and lead do you notice a big increase in low end muddiness when the bass control is around 4 or higher?

    Mark IV gain issues

How much gain should one expect from a Mark IV A? I think my preamp tubes might be bad. Rhythm 2 sounds barely like AC/DC distortion with the gain knob on 10 - is this typical? I get good saturation on the lead channel, but need to turn the gain and channel drive almost to 10. I'm just...

FS / FT: Mark IV long head for a 2 channel Dual Rectifier

Not interested in any Marshalls, sorry. With the new tubes and the tech work in it, I'd ask $1300 plus shipping or best offer.

FS / FT: Mark IV long head for a 2 channel Dual Rectifier

I'm looking to trade a very good condition Mark IV long head (S# IV5186) for a 2 channel Dual Rectifier. It was recently inspected and has new JJ 6L6 power tubes installed by my tech. I left the preamp tubes in from the seller - Sovtek 12ax7's and one balanced Mesa 12ax7 for the phase inverter...

2 Channel Dual Rec - Is it for me? Help!

My first Mesa was a 2004 3 channel dual rec. Did some recording with it sounded pretty good. I had to sell since I needed the $ and recently bought a Mark IV (s# IV5186). I recorded with the Mark and compared the two. The 3 channel had JJ ecc83's and Svetlana winged -C- 6L6's, the Mark iV has...

Single Rec 2 channel vs Dual Rec 2 channel

How do the single rectifiers compare to the older dual rec 2 channels and the new dual rec 3 channels? Are they the same as the newer 3 channel dr minus channel 3? I have to buy an amp asap and start on my CD so this is definitely my last question - for now.

What about 2 channel single rectifiers, any good?

2 ch vs 3 ch dual rectifier questions

I used to own a 3 channel and it took me a long time to get a decently tight heavy sound. I had to use ch 3 modern with the gain around 10 o clock, a pedal in front and a maximizer in the loop. It was a very big sound with pretty good detail. I had to sell it, but am looking once again. I really...

2 ch vs 3 ch dual rectifier questions

Sorry if you've all seen this before. Does the heavy channel on the older 2 channel DR resemble in any way either of the heavy channels on the new 3 channel DR? I've read that E34L's will give you tighter midrange, but will they still have a good amount of low end like 6L6's? Did John...
