Is anyone using a attenuator thats worth a crap?

Most amps are rated at the onset of clipping, and when pushed into distortion (or as we like to say: Cranked!) can put out twice that rated power. So a 100-watt amp will put out up to 200 watts when wound up. Take a 50-watt JMP Marshall for example. 50 watts, right? But its already...

Is anyone using a attenuator thats worth a crap?

Best I ever tried (including the ones I've owned: Hot Plate, Bad Cat Leash, and Ultimate) was the Richter, on loan from a buddy. Hated to give it back to him. Problem is they don't make them anymore. The manufacturer has been promising the new version for awhile now, but so far hasn't...

Trade in amps at Music store?

You could check and see if you have a local MusicGoRound in your area. They do a bit better than GC depending on their current inventory.

The ideal way to turn off a tube amp?

I followed a similar thread over at TGP. A couple of posters had some seemingly good reasons for shutting down the mains first, then the standby. Things like less stress on the standby switch and tubes. I say seemingly because the technical aspect was way over my head.

Rectifier 2x12 rated at 140 watts?

My local dealer has a Rectifier 2x12, but it's rated at 140 watts, instead of the 120 stated on the Boogie website. What's up with that, did they use different speakers at some time? I only want it if it has Vintage 30's. Thanks.
