    Must Read - Don't Die

At school a friend's guitar lit on fire on a pickup while he was playing it.

    difference between head and rackmount?

If in your friend's studio you can mic up a cab without neighbour complaining of the volume then there is no point in getting a rack setup if you already have the tone you want with your setup. If you're having trouble with volume and can only go direct then it's a good option to consider. A...

Mesa 2:fifty stereo to 2x12 Rectifier Vertical Slant

I have two 1X12 rectifier with my Triaxis+50/50 rig and it totally rips. Easier to carry that a 2X12, and it has 33% more volume inside then a 2X12 if you calculate. It sounds bigger and you can also put the cabs away from each other to get a real crazy stereo effect. Your stereo effects will...

    Question for Triaxis users.

I do use quite a lot of patches. I bought a Midi preamp for versatility and had a JMP-1 before. I got the Triaxis for the huge territory in tone it can cover... When I have a clubdate gig (top 40's, covers), I use to spend around 45 minutes or more per song to nail the sounds and program them...

Stereo 2:90 Modern VS Recto 2:100 Modern

Hi. I've seen that both poweramps have a "modern voicing". I was wondering from your experience if you could tell me if they roughly sound the same. Is the recto more agressive? I have a Triaxis and a 50/50 and I'm searching for a more agressive and saturated tone. Vintage tones are incredible...

    2:90 and Triaxis

All tube power amps use preamp tubes to drive the signal and as a phase inverter function.

    2:90 and Triaxis

I have a Triaxis with a 50/50 (the old one) and had the chance to gig with it in a huge auditorium and crank the beast. My PA was on hi=power at 7 for eache side. I find that the Triaxis sounds awesome with the 50/50 for any vintage sounds. The magic really happens for old school rock ala ACDC...

Question about tube emplacement in a 50/50

The 50/50 is a MONO poweramp. That is teh real disapointing truth I learned when I brought mine to a tech asking to mod it.You have control over two channels, yes, but they're wired in series, instead of being independant. It will not change anything for you except if you want to have...

Pulling out tubes from a 2:90 to reduce the power

So would it be possible to remove 4 tubes AND run it in half-drive mode? It would be a much more manageable volume. Otherwise, are there any stereo power attenuators around that are as good as the THD Hot Plate (without costing 1000$).

    Now that's talking!

Wanna better sound with the tri-axis?

Absolutly have to agree on this one. Some of the biggest players don't give a **** about their gear, and sometimes pay a tech to set it up for them. Usually it's session players who really dig into gear, or those who got a home studio, or some that spend more time reading and raving about gear...

Wanna better sound with the tri-axis?

I agree to the fact that tonewise, different cable quality will be very subtle. Ang again, if you use only one cable straight to the amp, changing from cheap to high-end will be less likely to colour or change the tone than in a rackmount setup where a lot of the signal has to go through them...

VHT 2-50-2 or 50/50 with my Triaxis?

Actually, I've read the VHT forums, and some people use it with 6L6's. The new models don't have the EL34/6L6 switch inside, because it's been replaced with a bias trim pot. Some people say it doesn't go cold enough to use 6L6's, and some actually use them... I think getting a special graded...

VHT 2-50-2 or 50/50 with my Triaxis?

Hi. I actually have a Mesa Triaxis, with a Peavey Valverb, going through a 50/50 and two 1X12' Mesa Recto. Though I<m happy with the 50/50, I've heard that the VHT 2-50-2 is a better power amp (I can get a deal on one) I find my 50/50 to be noisy (even on clean settings), and I would have...

What preamps are you guys using........

JMP-1 + Peavey Valverb (incredible) + 50/50 + two 1X12 Mesa Recto Looking to change preamp. I'm torn up between Quad or Triaxis as I need versatility, and midi capabilities without breaking my back with a heavy rack. Will also change the 50/50 for a VHT 2502 with KT77. Jmp-1 = Noise Machine...

Which tubes to pull on a 50\50 to get half power?

I Know it has a 50/15W switch in front. What I wanted to know is if it was possible to remove two power tubes like in 100W heads to reduce the volume of the unit without damage.

Which tubes to pull on a 50\50 to get half power?

Hi. I've seen that in a 100 watters head you can always pull out a pair of tubes to reduce the volume. Since the 50\50 is quite loud, and cannot crank it enough, I'd like to know if I can do it with this power amp, since it's not really a stereo power amp (I got it checked by a tech and he told...
