To each his own, I guess. My stiletto ace sounds great with humbuckers.
But I've played my American Standard Strat through it too. The Strat has Lace Golds. Also sounds great, just have different tone settings.
If you like the other amps, keep them. Save for the Strat. You will then have some...
Just picked up another MkIV combo with EV speaker. Amp is in outstanding shape but the rubber on the handle is split. Is the Fender handle a direct replacement (except the end-caps, of course) or do I need to look elsewhere?
Thanks,
Dave
I posted about using a stand with my Lone Star Special several months ago. It should be in the archives if you run a search. Anyway - I have an RS 7000 - and it made a world of positive difference in sound and the ability to have the controls very handy for tweaking. It's plenty stable.
However...
See page 5 of the following Acrobat document:

For our purposes, I think this part of the schematic is similar, if not identical, for both the LSC and LSS.
Solo is a pot wired as a variable resistor (i.e. only the wiper (center) and...
Resurrecting an old thread...just came across this in the course of following up a problem with my own LSS tonight. Starts cutting out. So I start the troubleshooting process:
1. Does it on both channels - yep
2. Does it in all modes 5/15/30 - yep
3. Does it with drive on/off - yep
4. Does...
ellem52, thanks for the laugh - the title cracked me up. I just imagined seeing that "Lonestar Death Metal & You" on a self-help title at Barnes & Noble.
OK, maybe it's just me, but I got a kick out of it.

You might remember one thing here, in your quest for the perfect tone for each tune. To wit:
You need to sound like you.
This may mean finding the minimum set of variant tones that works for the broadest possible variety of songs, yet unmistakably reflects *your voice.*
Dave
Hmmmm.
This is a bit off-the-cuff, but if you're really looking for a lot of flexibility, you might well consider looking for a used Mk IV head and a Thiele cabinet. The cabinet will offer a bit bottom end than the combo, but you might find the combo to be just fine for your purposes. The head...
If you have the information:
I need to know the TAPER of each of the Gain and Master pots for channel 2 of the Lone Star. One is likely linear taper and the other is log (audio) but I need to know which is which. And yes, it's because I would rather not take mine apart.
(And yes, I've read all...
I would suggest not plugging your phones into a speaker jack, even if in parallel to the existing speaker, and certainly not by themselves. I think it's unlikely that you could get enough control on the master volume to prevent turning the voice coil of the headphone driver into instant toast...
Eddie used a Variac - a type of device used to control AC voltage - to turn down the AC input voltage to his Marshall. This causes the voltages from the power supply transformer taps to be lower, and hence the input causes clipping somewhat earlier.
(Using a Variac can also be a fast way to...
+1 to what Ricardo said. I've read many complaints here about the quality of the cable, and cable failures causing switching failures.
In addition, make sure that the rear panel effects loop switch is not set to hard bypass - if it is the output and solo controls won't work, and you won't hear...
