    Quad and Axess CFX4

Back when I got my Quad and was looking at MIDI solutions, I asked Mario if the CFX4 would work with the Quad, and he said, "unfortunately the quad burns out the cfx4 relays so the cfx4 won't cut it". He pointed me in the direction of the Rockman Octopus and the GCX Switcher. Due to lack of...

What tubes do you put in your Quad pre amp? Mk C+ mod?

I recall someone from the HC forums having a "IIC+" mod done to a Studio pre. From memory, they did a comparison of their IIC+ and the modded Studio, running direct through some kind of cab sim, and it sounded pretty sweet. I liked JJs in my Mark III. Sounded nice 'n' thick and warm, no harsh...

    Faulty quad lead channel

The CFX4 won't work with the Quad. If you email Mario about it, he'll tell you that it burns out the relays or something to that effect. I was looking at getting one, but Mario himself steered me away. I ended up with a GCX to control my Quad.

    Quad preamp

To begin with, go to the Mesa site and download the Quad's manual. Not 100% that there actually is one, so if there isn't, grab one of the Mark series manuals instead. The manuals go through all of the controls, explaining how they affect the tone and the other controls, and also provide you...

    Anyone use a Piezo system?

My RG2127X has piezo-loaded Double Edge trem. :) At the moment, all I'm running it through is a Boss PQ-4 (parametric EQ pedal), with an Intellifex for a bit of delay, or chorus or whatever, into my Classic 60/60 power amp.
