    roadster power soak

I called Mesa first, then THD for a recommendation of which THD Hotplate was right for me. I suggest you do the same. Now that I have mine, I can't do without it. I can actually hear my (overdriven) power section (EL-34's in a LSC) with the Hotplate. Highly recommended. -Gary K

Meas owners tell me about the mesa nomad amp

Woody, Which Nomad model did you find for sale? 45, 55, or 100? And, 1x12, 2x12, 4x10? -Gary K

Lame experience at GC testing LSS amps

I believe the actual Guitar Center policy is: You get 30 days to try a product, new or used. You can return the product for a full refund within that 30 days. The exception is Special Order items. No returns. -Gary K

    LSC crunch??

First came the Lonestar. The following year came the Lonestar Special. Then, Mesa users (us!), to be able to tell the two amps apart when discussing, labeled them "LSS" and "LSC". In other words, we gave the original Lonestar the "Classic" label just to be able to know which amp we were...

    which of these amps?

IMHO there is nothing that makes any of those amps better than any other. You should plug in and play through each of them and see which appeals to you. -Gary K

Why does everyone hate the Nomad series ?

I run my Nomad 55 4x10 with EL34s, and a 4 ohm THD Hotplate attenuator. I get great tone from the amp. Would not want to part with it. -Gary K

    Mark IV vs Nomad

I wouldn't say the 55 Nomad sounds better than the 45, maybe only different. If you don't crank them loud enough to hear the power section (distortion), then they should actually sound similar since the pre-amp sections are the same. -Gary K

    Mark IV vs Nomad

I have a Nomad 55 4x10. I have had a Mark IV 1x12 (C90) for a short time. I can say, these are both heavy amps! The Mark IV had removable casters, my Nomad does not. So the Mark IV could be rolled around on its own. I put the Nomad on a 4 wheel dolly to move it. Wouldn't it be nice if you...

Still curious why you want to do this. -Gary K

    Triple rectifier - Power reducing

Why do you want to reduce power? Might an attenuator work? -Gary K

    Lonestar/RK/F-Series cleans for Pink Floyd?

Anybody that can cover Pink Floyd and do a great job with it, has my respect! Like the radio guy said, very well done! And great tone from the LSC! -Gary K

Thanks Supertaster, I'll give it a try. -Gary K

Nomad 55 head - Is it overkill ??

I've been playing my Nomad 55 4x10 combo with EL-34 tubes, and a 4 ohm THD Hot Plate attenuator. The attenuator is so I can get the tone of over-driven EL-34s without getting "bleeding ears" from too much volume. -Gary K

    New Nomad owner with questions

A friend also has a Nomad 45 2x12 with V30's, so I suppose its somewhat common. -Gary K

    Questions about my new LSS

BD, What works for me is a Lone Star Classic, I set the Ch. 2 50/100 power switch to "50", and set the Variac switch to "Tweed", which reduces the AC voltage to the amp a la a Variac like EVH used. But I can come close with the Nomad 55 too, which does not have a Variac switch. The Nomad just...

Picking up my new "Ace" today

I've not yet heard a Stiletto Ace. But I'll bet its sweet. I really like the sound of EL34's in overdrive. I use Mesa EL34's in my Nomad 55, with a THD Hot Plate attenuator, to really get those power amp section tubes singing. Congrats on your new Ace! -Gary K
