You should use JJ EL34L's instead of the Mesa 447's, or even Winged C's, because the difference between those tubes and the Mesa tubes (JJEL34) is quite different. The 447's are kind of flat sounding compared to the others, and definitely NOT a good representation of the amp, unless you want to...

i have 2 mark V's right now. they are... 1-April 09 @2000 range (bar) 2-March '10 - 3000 range.(cover) to my ears, extremely minor differences. i noticed the graphics on the back are slightly tweaked, and besides the bar and cover, to my ears they sound a tiny bit different. but, no two amps...
