Want Pre500 tone? Here's how to get it!

I've had 4 Recto's before I bought my Road King II... - Two 2ch: pre-500 dual and triple. - Two 3ch: 2 duals. Am I the only one that doesn't like the pre-500 tone? In the beginning I liked it but after a bunch of Rectifiers it was to me the baddest sounding amp of all. I liked a 3ch dual and my...

Road King II with single coils on high gain?

When I play rock I often play with my guitars with humbuckers on split modus on ch2 and ch3 on the Roadking. Does perfectly the job. Bright powerful sound with good attack. Not realy hum and hiss... And it still doesn't need a lot of gain. MS

    Goodbye roadster!

I live in Europe and Engl amps are here all around us to try and buy. Engl is a total other amp than a Mesa Dual Rec, tight vs loose amps. They are right about Engl, clean tight sound with lotsa gain and bass response but the amps realy don't cut through in a band situation. Check recordings...

Opinions on a Pre 500 Dual Rectifier

I had a Pre-500 #162 dual rectifier and now i have a two-channel triple rectifier #9981. My triple kicks the pre-500's ***... More balls, headroom and the tone realy... Is just the same... The pre-500 sounds even weaker... Tho it has a special tone indeed, and ok, some find it better... I once...

    Post your Rig!

mesa has a hard colder clean, use the fx send knob on half, dry bonehard distortion, oomph when palmmuting... I like the 2 channel version a lot more than the 3 channel version, sounds 10 times better to me, raw, cleaner, more mesa less bzzz, real recto sound. bogner has a warm mellow clean...

    Post your Rig!

No, are you crazy haha! The Line6 PODXT Live is in the fx loop of my amps, just use it for effects, great unit for that. I can switch with a Nobels midi switcher the amps channel and the fx loop at the same time adding some fx. when i need fx i put the loop open and add effects, and i compensate...

some mesa dual rec 3 ch issues, bass and clearity

heyz, besides a mesa pre-503 recto (#0162) I also own a 3 channel dual recto. today i was busy tweaking it. some things stroke me: - the 2nd channel seems to have more bass than the 3rd channel. - when switching the clean channel from clean to pushed and the 2nd and 3rd channel from modern to...

My Dual Recto R0162 low serial number = ... ?

Here are some images of my Rectifier that is about to be sent to me today... I see that there are no voicing options par channel like clean/pushed and raw/vintage/modern, is that right? I do also notice that the preamp valves aren't shielded like the new Mesa's... Doesn't cause that hum or...

My Dual Recto R0162 low serial number = ... ?

Hello, Thank you for the answer. I just have the black chassis and an aluminium Diamond Plate. 1750 $ is fair enough for me, if I imagine what prices Mesa Dual Rectifiers are going for here in Europe. Paid my other three-channel including case 2350$ second hand. But more important, what is the...

My Dual Recto R0162 low serial number = ... ?

Hello, I had already a three-channel Dual Rectifier head. Today arrived a new one, a two-channel Dual Rectifier head, wich I bought on Ebay Germany for about 1750$. It seems to have a very low serial number, R0162. I looked up on the internet and read about the first 500 holy grail Recto's and...

    roadster popping

Sorry but I'm new here on the forum. Maybe my question has been asked already but I do have the same problem. When I switch the second and third channel of my dual recto, there is a popping. How can it be fixed?
