Did Wicker Only Come on Hardwood?

My '79 Mark IIA is blonde with a wicker grill. Second owner, but believe it's original.

The great return of the MKIIA :)

Thank you! Thank you! Absolute beauty! Love the upgrades/mods. Mine makes me very happy every time I fire it. Tell us more about it...there is a criminal lack of Mark IIA info available.

    Can anyone identify this cabinet

I have the same cabinet but sized for 12" with an EVM-12L. Bought it used. Have always assumed it was from the Mark II era. I use it with my Mark IIA which is also blonde.

The Mark IIA Shined Last Night

@Wyzard....You have 4 Mark IIA amps?? Lets hear about them, see them, hear them, hear how you use each of them, and whatever else you want to offer! Proud owner of a 1979 Blonde/Wicker IIA for the past decade or so. 60/100, Reverb, no GEQ with a JBL D120F and export trans. Phenomenal cleans...

Mark III vs Mark IV vs Mark V comparison video / poll

I liked the IIC+ mode best, followed closely by the III. Nice comparison!

How different are IIB's as opposed to IIA's

igfraso, you have been a tremendously valuable source of information out here for many years, and I thank you! My IIA settings tend to look something like this: Vol1: 6-7 Treb: 7 Bass: 3 Mid: 4 Mast1: 2 LD: 3-8 LM: 1 Pres: 7 Rev: 4 EQ: N/A, and no need :P A few things to consider with these...

How different are IIB's as opposed to IIA's

IIA owner here as well for the past several years. No experience with the IIB, but I am more and more smitten with my amp. Rich, beautiful cleans, and smooth, singing overdrive anywhere from 3-8 on the gain knob. I have exhaustively searched for info on this amp, and there isn't that much out...

    New Mark II A owner

Not a ton of IIA info around. This forum really helps. Enjoy the honeymoon phase, and take your time learning how your amp responds with different settings. Most important...use your ears!

    New Mark II A owner

Congratulations on the IIA! I've had mine for almost 10 years now. 60/100, reverb, no GEQ. Beautiful full cleans and a nice smooth lead channel. Quiet at idle. Blonde with wicker...what's not to love?? JBL K120 in mine, also have a matching cab with EVM 12L. Not for sale! Tell us more...

Tone difference between Mark I and Mark IIA-B

I'm not the original owner of my IIA, but the speaker does appear to be original to the amp. I read literature from Mesa somewhere that indicated the JBL was an option at the time my amp was built (11/79) and earlier.

    Speaker suggestions in general

So you mix the EV12L and the WGS ET-65 now? Were you running just the ET-65 at lower power, and if so, how was that? Very intrigued by the ET-65, currently using an EV12L myself. Can you describe tonal differences? Thank you!

Tone difference between Mark I and Mark IIA-B

Subscribed! I have a IIA (60/100, Rev, no GEQ, JBL speaker), but zero experience with Mark I's or IIB's. I've always wanted to be able to A/B some of the earlier Mark models just to have a better feel for their tonal differences and similarities. I've read the IIA described as more Tweedish...

More crunch out of R1 in a Mark iii blue stripe?

I really like a Rat set to very low gain with the R1, but if that colors in a way you don't prefer, Tim/Timmy are a great option and the most colorless clean boost I know of. The added bass/treble controls are a welcome bonus.

    V25 in the house!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question above. Are the cleans big and deep enough, or does anyone feel they are too thin? From all the clips I've seen/heard, the clean channel appears to have tremendous versatility that will take you from crystal clean to vintage rock with great...

    V25 in the house!

Congratulations and thanks to both you (DTR) and primal... I have huge interest in this amp, but while I haven't generally been a fan of EL84 powered amps, I'm cautious. Without actually going out and playing one, I'll never know if that's a real concern or not. Can either or both of you (and...

Does Anyone Enjoy the Mark III for clean tones or for blues

Slightly tighter in the low end than vintage Fenders that I've played through. A bit more modern, I suppose, but cleans are gorgeous when dialed in well. Regarding settings, depends on what guitar/speaker config you use. Digest the manual and spend a lot of time just getting used to what the...

Speaker for a MarkIIA Combo.//Got an EVM 12L

Figured I would post on this.. I have a IIA, 60/100, no GEQ, w/Reverb. Mine has a JBL K120. Since I live mostly on the clean channel, the speaker has a nice range to it and can get pretty bright if dialed in that way. However, it seems to be a little harsh on the lead channel. Not unusable...
