Guitar -> Boss NS-2 -> Boss SD-1 -> DigiTech Whammy -> DOD Gonkulator (soon to be replaced with a Snarling Dogs Mold Spore) -> Boss PH-1r -> Mesa Dual Recto
Using the SD-1 solely as a clean boost, and to tighten up the sound. It's on all the time, i like what it adds to the tone of the amp.
Here's what i have in my Dual. Granted, it's a 2-channel, but this should work fine in a 3-channel as well.
Preamp tubes:
V1: RFT ECC83
V2: Chinese 12AX7
V3: Chinese 12AX7
V4: Chinese 12AX7
V5: RCA 12AT7 (adds a bit more clarity)
Power tubes: JJ E34L
Rectifier tubes: Philips Miniwatt...
i actually like the way it affects my tone. It just adds a little bit more low-mids, which is fine with me. And i almost always have it on. Haven't used the Decimator, but the Boss works fine for me right now.
i'm running my Dual Recto through a Sunn Model T 4x12. It's one of the Fender-made "re-issues" from a few years back. The cab itself seems very heavy-duty and well made (13-ply birch), but it has Celestion G12T-75 speakers, which i don't care for. i'm eventually going to replace them with...
As far as i know, pretty much all V30s are being made in China now, and have been for a few years. Mesa's "Black Shadow" V30s are an exception, and are still made in England. You can order those direct from Mesa.

i had a similar problem a couple of years ago. The symptoms were the same: power lights came on, but the channel lights did not, and the only sound was a humming from the power tubes. Called Mesa, they said it was a problem with the channel switching mechanism/circuit. Took it into the shop...
The only pedals i'm using right now are my Boss SD-1 and NS-2, and a DigiTech Whammy (original). i really like the SD-1 with my Recto, it sharpens it up a bit. The NS-2 keeps things quiet. The Whammy, well, it does it's thing just fine.
Some sort of little P.O.S. Peavey combo amp. That only lasted me a couple of months, though, and was soon replaced with a 25w Park combo. That wasn't all that great, either. They were marketed as "Son of Marshall", more like ******* Son of Marshall!
i've been playing my Dual through a Sunn 4x12 for the past few years, and am pretty happy with it. It's the Model T "re-issue" cab from the '90s, made by Fender. Seems to be very well-constucted, 13-ply birch (i believe, although for some odd reason the official specs seem to vary between 11...
Just to clarify, i have a shorter plate Mullard. Got it used from eBay a few years back, so i didn't have to break the bank to get it. Going that route can be a crap shoot, but i was lucky with that particular one. Never tried a long plate though, i don't ever seem to see those go for very...
i've had good results with a Mullard in V1, and an R.F.T. in V2 or V3 (depending on which channel you're using for distortion) of my Dual Rectifier. The R.F.T. sounds really good in V1 too. Thick sounding, with lots of harmonics. Also, i really like using a 12AT7 in the V5 (phase inverter)...
The 6L6s (stock Mesa and Philips 7581s) and EL34s (SED) i've used have both been about the same height. You shouldn't have any problems.
Then again, i have a Dual Rectifier, so YMMV.
