Question for Lone Star owners (power tube retainers?)

I have a Lonestar Special, and have blown it out TWICE by having a power tube cocked past being perpendicular. I don't know how deep the pins are penetrating the tube socket, but know that if you haphazardly pull the power cable out to plug it in, and bump one of the power tubes, you risk...

Lone Star Special-Any other usuable tubes?

Thanks BBBB. Wonder how I'd ever get a schematic of the Lonestar Special? I think that it would be nice to have for educational purposes. Art

Lone Star Special-Any other usuable tubes?

I'm happy with the sound. I was (am) just concerned with how hot they run. I mean, they are too hot to touch, even just sitting there without any sound. Is that normal? Art

Lone Star Special-Any other usuable tubes?

Hi to all: Can we use any other tubes (6l6's maybe) in the Lone Star Special, or are we stuck with the EL-84's? Also, anyone know of a site that has the schematic for the Lone Star Special on line? Thanks a bunch, Art

    Lonestar Special EL-84 temperature

Thank you. Yes, they sure do run hot...Ouch! I never realized it until now, but I guess they are running at the top end of their temperature line. How hot are those things running at, anyway? Thanks, Art

    Lonestar Special EL-84 temperature

Hi Guys: I wanted to know if the EL-84's normally run hot, idle, with the output switches set at 30 watts. The amp is running fine, but the tubes are pretty hot. Thanks, Art

    LoneStar Special Help!

Now I'm grasping for straws. Is the dielectric constant of the tube socket for the power tubes higher than that of air? I'm wondering if the tube was "cocked" out of the socket just a little, that one of the pins could arc to the chassis and short out the tube? I've looked and looked at that...

    LoneStar Special Help!

I got my amp back and talked extensively to the tech. He replaced an EL84 and the 5Y3 rectifier tube. He checked for anything burnt and couldn't find anything. He checked the screen grid resistors and they were all good. He had it running with music playing through it when I got there. I've...

    LoneStar Special Help!

Hi to all: I've had my Lonestar Special for a little less than six months, and took it in the shop several days ago. After powering it on, I plugged a guitar into it at low volume, and after giving me about 3 or 4 seconds of clean sound I heard a "pop", then saw some smoke come out the back...
